How I ended up going full time making YouTube videos for the past 6.5 years.
I was certainly not looking for fame or to be known. I was camera shy and hated to see myself on camera in any way. It took me a long time to overcome this once I got started making videos.
It all began in the early days of the internet when I had a dream of making a living online. I tried various business ideas. Some flopped and some worked out to some extent. But I had no real experience and the internet was sort of new. In time I left everything behind, always trying something new.
I ended up getting a camper for free and started the idea of The Off Grid Project. It was at this time when I started setting up off grid experiments in that old camper. It was in no shape to live in at all. And my experiments were just that. Even the wood stove setup was an experiment.
But then I lost my job and apartment in Feb 2013. I moved into that rotting camper during a blizzard. I made a few videos and they were a hit. People wanted more. I never went back to the rat race since.
Everything I have today is from making videos full time all these years. Even DIY Tube Video Community.
