I went on a 7 hour round trip to get an 80cc chainsaw for my lumber mill for only $55. I figured the drive is worth the gas and time to get such a large saw for such a low price.

I found this online for sale and immediately wanted to get it. I had to sell my electric snow blower first though so I had to wait. The guy said not many people had looked at it yet so it was most likely going to be mine.

But the waiting was hard anyway. I did sell my snow blower and the next day I left to go get my chainsaw.

This is an old Sears D-49 80cc chainsaw with gear drive. It is a die hard old machine that is collected by many people these days.

The only problem is that it has no chain brake so it is not safe for use as a normal chainsaw. That is probably the reason nobody else bought this powerful saw at such a low price.

But for a lumber mill this is perfect. The chainsaw has both a manual and automatic oiler with an adjustment which is great. It also has a trigger lock to keep the saw running at full power. Again perfect for a lumber mill.

I am hoping this fits right up with the chain and bar I have already. I would love to do a video comparing a 50cc with an 80cc on the same mill and using the same chain.
