I was a busy day at the off grid homestead today with many things going on.

In the morning my friend helped me get my new boat home. I had a boat we were using all season for fishing on the local lake. But I found another boat I wanted badly. So I sold my boat and bought this other one. Today I got it home so we can use it fishing. I had a flat bottom boat but wanted a shallow V so we can handle a little more waves if needed. Now I have one.

On the way home we saw a bunch of good stuff on the side of the road which my friend wanted so we loaded that up into his truck. Then I got home and our friends with the fire wood were waiting there with a trailer load of wood. We emptied that and I rode with them to their place.

We loaded up two more trailer loads full of cut and split pine fire wood which we dumped off at our homestead. Some of the wood is a bit longer though and will have to be cut again. I will build a chainsaw sawbuck and cut them to size. The short ends will be used to heat the off grid wood shop this winter while the longer pieces will be used to heat our off grid tiny house.

After I got back my other friend was here again and we loaded up some free double pane glass windows for the greenhouse. These I got for free. There are six windows. I will put them at the top of the greenhouse roof to help keep in the winter warmth. I am considering putting some of them on hinges to allow me to open them up in summer and let the heat out.

I need six more windows to complete the greenhouse roof with all glass windows.

After lunch I started working on the Buick. The brakes had started to grind so I ordered new pads with over night express shipping. They arrived in perfect time and as I was taking off the brake caliper the bolt broke off inside the caliper. I dont have the tools to remove the bolt myself so I am in a bit of a problem here. A new caliper costs $100 and I am waiting till payday.

So I got the Olds going again and transferred plates and insurance to that in a hurry. The Olds leaks transmission fluid but at least it runs for now and we need a car for emergencies with a baby who is now running around all over the place.

Later I worked on the fire wood a bit. I stacked a couple wheel barrow loads onto our fire wood pile and sorted the longer logs out to be re cut later.

The light was fading into darkness as I called it a day and went inside.
