The Michigan Hog Nose snake looks like a cobra and strikes when disturbed but is not harmful to humans.

At first I had no idea what this was and was very careful around it. But later I looked it up online and easily found it.

This snake puffed up its body and flattened its head when it saw me. It hissed as well, which scared me the first few times. The Hog Nosed Snake will strike like a cobra but does not bite. This action is an attempt to scare predators away.

If these actions do not work, the Hog Nose Snake will roll over, hang out its tongue and play dead.

After I realized it was not harmful, I found it actually sort of cute with its attempts at scaring me away.

A cat came along to see what I was up to and it was also startled the first few times the snake attacked. Eventually though I shut down the camera to shoo away the cats so the snake could move along in peace.
