It was going to freeze at the off grid homestead so we put the covers back on the greenhouse to protect our plants from freezing.
It was supposed to be 39 degrees F in town so that means generally ten degrees colder at our place at night. So we put the covers back on the greenhouse before it got too dark out.
The next morning we had a coating of ice on the solar panels. It was thick and hard to scrape off.
The greenhouse was coated with condensation, which probably helped to protect the plants from frost even more.
That afternoon when we got home from work I checked the plants inside the greenhouse and they were all doing well. Actually I think they will do better with the cover on the greenhouse because it was warmer in there than outside.
The plants had a harsh summer due to cooler weather so not much really grew yet this year.
I think we will have a much better garden next year.
