I am making slab wood picket fences for my orchard. I have to make my own lumber for cross bracing. While sawing out a log I hit some metal and tore up a brand new saw blade.I put up a couple sections of slab wood picket fencing before I ran out of lumber for the cross bracing. So I fired up the sawmill and rolled up a huge log so I could saw out some lumber.I got some nice slabs out of the log before I hit a thick piece of metal and tore up my brand new blade. This ended my work for the day. I put on a new blade and did saw out a couple 2x4s before it was time to clean up for the night.I cut the log with a chainsaw to see what I hit. It was quite a thick piece of metal near the center of the log. It must have been put there when the tree was young.I am keeping this piece so I can experiment with various metal detectors so I can try to prevent this from happening in the future. Thanks for watching. Description:

I am making slab wood picket fences for my orchard. I have to make my own lumber for cross bracing. While sawing out a log I hit some metal and tore up a brand new saw blade.

I put up a couple sections of slab wood picket fencing before I ran out of lumber for the cross bracing. So I fired up the sawmill and rolled up a huge log so I could saw out some lumber.

I got some nice slabs out of the log before I hit a thick piece of metal and tore up my brand new blade. This ended my work for the day. I put on a new blade and did saw out a couple 2x4s before it was time to clean up for the night.

I cut the log with a chainsaw to see what I hit. It was quite a thick piece of metal near the center of the log. It must have been put there when the tree was young.

I am keeping this piece so I can experiment with various metal detectors so I can try to prevent this from happening in the future.
