I got some RX 470 graphics cards on discount because their fans were failing. These were used for mining and that is exactly what I am using them for now.
Some of the fans on one card are totally failing so I am putting 120mm case fans on the GPU instead. These are rated at almost 60 cfm so they should move enough air. I guess we will see.
I removed the old fan shroud from the GPU and then used zip ties to hold on the new case fans.
When I put the repaired graphics card back into the mining rig and started mining, this card ran cooler than before. Even after a longer period of mining at 100% GPU power, it was still running cool.
This was a success.
