How To Get Off The Grid For $5,000 part two - Off The Grid defined. This is the second video in the series on how to get off the grid. The previous video was an introduction to the series.
Now we have to define what "off the grid" actually means because there is a lot of confusion out there when you ask someone about off grid living.
Many people are confused by hollywood ideas of spy movies and hiding out for your life or primitive living and making fire by rubbing sticks together.
But the real meaning of "Off The Grid" is simply not using the commercial electrical power grid. Nothing else. You may not have any power lines running to your home at all or you may have them but choose not to use them. Either way, if you are not using the commercial electrical power grid, you are "Off The Grid".
Some homestead go even further and reduce their monthly bills more by becoming self sufficient to some extent. But this is not a requirement to going off the grid.
Many off grid homes also use propane, drive a car or work a normal 9 to 5 job. This does not mean that they are on the grid. Again there is a lot of confusion in there.
Often I hear someone say I am not off the grid because I use propane to cook sometimes. Yet I never hear someone say the same thing if they meet a hiker in the woods cooking his meal with a gas stove.
This video series is going to show you how to take your own home off the grid for $5,000 or less. You may go further and reduce your monthly bills using some of the many things I show you along the way such as solar cooking. But this is not a requirement to be considered off the grid.
Stay tuned for the next video in the series. Each week we will cover a new topic about "How To Get Off The Grid For $5,000". At the end of the series I will finish my book by that very same title.
