I made adjustable arms for my solar panel frames so I can easily change the angle of the solar panels at any time now.
The sun was shining brightly today so I fired up a cryptocurrency mining rig using solar power. When the sun shines full on the solar panels I have power to burn so I mine altcoins to earn us some extra money for free. Its pretty cool.
Since it was also warm out today at 40 degrees F, I worked on the solar panel arms. I had been wanting to do this for a while now but it was quite cold out recently which makes my batteries weaker in my power tools and slows me down as well.
I used 2x4 lumber that I made on my own chainsaw lumber mill a while ago. This feels very good to be using my own homemade lumber instead of waiting for funds to buy wood.
I cut the boards to length and then drilled holes for the hinge points and pins. On one end will be the hinge and the other is for the retaining pin.
I put multiple holes in the arms to set different positions for the retaining pins. This will allow me to adjust the solar panels as needed for the various seasons.
I used bolts for the hinges and pins. Wing nuts make the pins easy to remove for adjustment of the solar panels.
Now all all I have to do is pull the pins on a solar panel rack, move to the right hole and put the pins back in. This makes adjusting the solar panels for the seasons so easy.
